I had really high hopes of finally finding a reliable place to order tooling leather after I ordered a small piece that was really nice. After receiving two 2×3 pieces of different thicknesses I was pretty disappointed. The pieces I received were wrinkled beyond use, some of the worse leather I have ever ordered. I have had it sitting in my storage room for months and will never use it. The search continues.

Blotchy, varying thickness, much of the 4-6 sf piece is unusable. Premium HO? I doubt it, never again.

Q & A

Would these leather pieces be a suitable material to cut insoles from? Ian Rudie asked on January 21, 2023

Hey Ian! You certainly can cut from these to make insoles. Typically though, insoles are cut from sole bends that are a bit stiffer that typical veg tan leather like Hermann Oak. We have sole bends on the website here as well, just do a search for them and they'll pop up.

Can you tell me what part of the animal this would be cut from? Gabriel asked on November 26, 2022

Hey Gabriel! These are cut from Hermann Oak veg tan leather sides, from the back down to the belly. Horizontally, the pieces can come from anywhere from the butt to the shoulder.
