Our Big Sky bison leather in a beautiful, dark tan color. With a waxy composition, this leather has a wonderful pull-up effect. As you pull and use the leather, the darker tones give way to the lighter tones. At 4-6 ounces thick (1/16″-3/32″), this leather is ideal for bags, wallets, totes, bookbinding, and more.
I’m terribly disappointed with the Tan Big Sky bison leather! The slightest scratches seem to scrape off the dye on the surface. Just barely drag a tool across the surface by accident and the hide shows scratches that ruin the appearance. It’s as though the mottled appearance on the hide’s surface is painted on with a paper-thin layer. I’m planning on selling mine at a discount just to get rid of it. This was a waste of my money!

Hey Tim, there is a wax finish on the big sky bison that gives it the appearance that it has. A firm fingernail will scratch the leather, but this is a common occurrence with many types of leather. However, if you thoroughly rub in some leather conditioner, you can restore most if not all of the original appearance.
